Coffee Clutch with Dutch Henry: "Kessy Carried Me Gently"

As we go about our daily lives, we hardly ever get to share these stories with others. Thanks to my friend L. Paytes I read a good story with a good ending for today. With all the ideas floating around about just how much animals do know...just know this, I can relate to this story. Many times my horse put up with my inability to ride correctly and he certainly was patient and really took care of me when I was a teenager - a wreckless  rider that often let my horse lead us because he was surefooted and sound - without a doubt in HIS ability, my days with my horse Elijah will never be forgotten. Jumping a culvert at galloping speeds he took me over with a spectacular jump. I was frightened; and of course Elijah had to rare up afterwards letting me know that he also was excited and also a little bit proud of himself. As I eased back around, we checked on my best friend, D. Crow who was riding a paint horse that day...well, his paint decided that to show just how accurate he was, he stopped on a dime before the culvert and D. Crow flew over and landed in the culvert. I was hoping I didn't have to lift him up on the paint and get him home with broken bones, but to my surprise he was watching my horse jump the culvert and rare up...a picture perfect moment not for cameras but for the precious memories of a teenage girl...never to be forgotten. Thanks to Elijah and D. Crow, I had a wonderfully safe day that day...somehow my horse knew more than me, without my ability to see, my horse certainly did and as a horse of intelligence, I concur, horses have much more intelligence, compassion, and bonding than we think they do. And yes, Mr. Henry, I talked to my horse everyday/night. Thank you for the story.
